Praise the Lord

Dear Fellow Christian sailors and those who have yet to realise the Amazing Grace of God our Father through His Son Jesus.

We have just had the Tall Ships Race to Portugal and Madeira start here. It was an amazing sight and Falmouth was very busy with lots of visitors coming in.

I was Privileged to be able to be part of the Falmouth Churches Together outreach team. It was my first time in street ministry and I had a lot to learn and as usual I found out how terribly human and fallible I was.

Fortunately the team was led and organised by true men and women of God and I felt honoured to be a very small part of a truly dedicated team.

There was prayer 24 hours a day for 7 days to cover the outreach. Not just 1 prayer room but 3, with different types of prayer. Silent and group.

There was a prayer tent on events square for those who wanted prayer and some met the Lord there.

Christian men and women came from all over Cornwall to be part of the prayer team or the evangelist team.

The Gideons came to give Bibles to all the crew on the ships and a beautiful laser printed plaque was presented to the ships on behalf of the Falmouth Churches Together with Psalm 139:7-10

The leaflets were very well done using the international code flags to present a gospel message, and “Jesus Saves” in flags on the back.

Thousands of these leaflets were given out and lots of people engaged in conversations about the gospel. Hundreds of Bibles were given out.

We now continue to pray that the literature and bibles continue to do their work. We pray especially for those who refused, they reminded me so much of myself.

As a newcomer to England it was fantastic to see God at work in a country where you can enrol for a college degree in the occult.

Praise His Holy Name

Be like Jesus! – from the Daily Might

If you really have the compassion of the Holy Spirit, the love of God and the love of Christ in your heart, you’re going to be like Jesus. And if you want to know how Jesus is, just read the Gospels! It’s beautiful! — We read His life story in the Bible about the man who went about everywhere doing good. — Striving to lead God’s little children back to the worship of the true Father; His little lambs back into the one and only true fold of the Great Shepherd and the way of simple truth and love and peace — the true kingdom of God, whose only laws are love.

Study the Gospels and see how Jesus did it. Study the Master Teacher — Who only taught and lived love and sharing — Who came for love and lived in love and died for love that we might live and love forever!

This is why I always liked the words of Jesus better than any other part of the Bible! He was almost always the peacemaker. When they didn’t like His message, He didn’t force it on them. It was all voluntary, all “whosoever will.” — Jesus was patient, loving, kind, sympathetic and forgiving, always loving, always leading, not pushing or driving, and always feeding and encouraging and strengthening His little lambs.

Lord, You are the greatest sample of all — The greatest of all samples of humility and mercy. Help us to be like You, Lord Jesus.

Love Makes the World Go Round  - from Jesus with Love

Love is such a powerful force—it makes the world go round! Stop and think about the love you have in your life today. Because of your parents’ love for each other, you were born. Because of their love for you, you were cared for, provided for‚ and protected. As you grew older, this love matured in you. Now, because of the love you have received, you want to give love to others as well and help them to change their lives for the better.

All of this love originated from Me, for I am the giver of all true, lasting love. I so want to pour more of My love out to others, yet I need you to give it. I know sometimes you feel like such a small, insignificant person, and you wonder what you can possibly do to change things. Just like a little bit of water poured upon the dry ground can bring to life the dormant seeds hidden under the surface, so too can your small amounts of love poured out upon others change them and bring them back to life.

A KickStart your Life in God

We trust that you are well. God did once again a miracle of protection for Andrew. He was driving in the right hand lane of the road beside a truck on the left side when suddenly an oncoming  truck swung 10 m before him into Andrew’s lane and was coming straight for him. Andrew managed to swerve a bit  and was showered with scattered glass as the front corner of the oncoming truck hit the back of another truck in his own lane and stopped dead. We are still praising Jesus for His mercy. May you have a wonderful week.

Lots of love to you

Andrew and Hanna

The Lord Really Leaves a Lot Up to Us and Our Prayer – the Daily  Might

You’d be surprised how much God depends on our prayers, how concerned we are & how interested we are. When we are faced with a needy situation, He wants us to show concern & pray specifically about it. If we really believe, every prayer is heard & answered. But if we don’t pray, it is not done! God can do anything, but He puts the responsibility of prayer on us!

The very intensity with which we pray & really mean it or desire it is reflected in the answer! The recipients of our prayers are not going to receive any more than we send. We have to visualise the people or situations we’re praying for & pray with that thought on our heart, asking the Lord specifically for what we want Him to do.–And then our prayer will reflect or be answered with the same intensity as it originated. Like a beam of light focused on a mirror, it will bounce back with as much power as it began with. If we only pray with half a heart we only get half an answer. But if we pray with our whole heart, we get a whole-hearted strong answer!

Are you using prayer power?–Heaven will reveal what good we have done–or could have done–through prayer!

Anybody Can Find Love If They Have Love – the Daily Might

If you show a real love for people, you won’t have a hard time winning friends, because love begets love! If you’re sincerely concerned about others, & you show them love, they’ll be concerned about you & show you love. If you sow love, you’re going to reap love. If you sow friendship, you’re going to reap friendship. You’ll always get enough love if you give enough love–it’s a two-way street! (Gal.6:7)

Love cannot fail! It makes no difference where it is bestowed, it always brings in big returns. You can’t give without getting, you can’t reward without receiving in return, & the more you give, the more you get!–It multiplies & grows like the bread & the fish, & the cruse of oil & the barrel of meal! (Mat.15:32-38; 1Kg.17:10-16)

There are many others around you who are just as lonely & longing for love as you are, & just waiting for you to make the first move! So love someone today! Step out by faith & try to make someone else happy & you’ll find out what wonders love can do! You’ll find a whole new World of love you’ve only dreamed of. There are wonders of love that you can enjoy along with some other lonely soul–if you will only try. If you give love you’ll get love!

Sad News

It is with great sorrow that we have found out that one of the greatest yaching friends has passed away.

Fred, Known to many as Peri-peri on the Indian Ocean/South African coast radio safety net passed away last Tuesday. I have only just learned of it.

Fred will be greatly missed by all yachtmen and women and his it is sad that his laugh will no longer grace the airwaves.

We shall all miss him and I am grateful for the many times he “held my hand” through all those gales and bad times on many trips and deliveries.

Our thoughts go out to Eva his wife and all his family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I feel I have lost a good friend and the world is a poorer place for his passing

Roy is running the net. Thank you Roy.

Blogging

I am still learning how to do this blog thing. I can sail boats, have done for many years so if you find some funny things laugh with me or at me and join in a fun site.

This scares me at the moment.

I started sailing dinghies at the age of seven, then I graduated to Ocean sailing when I was 19, I started racing but I was always a cruiser at heart.

I always wanted to see what was over the horizon. to meet new people and see new places.

I turned professional at the age of twenty one. I guess I “came of age”. I have never looked back. I am now nearly 53.

I have led one of the most blessed of lives as I have earned my living with my passion. I think the Lord kept me at sea as it was the one place I had to rely on Him.

Before I became a Christian I spent a lot of my time at sea praying anyway. There is no atheist in a yacht in a gale. I would sometimes cry with fear (never let anyone else know) but I knew this is what I wanted to do and being a pig headed stubborn person I wasn’t going to let fear stop me doing what I wanted to do.

Fear is after all a safety device. Tells you to be careful or that you don’t know what you are doing so you better learn. Once you have learnt, the fear disappears. Like first time you drove a car.

When I accepted Jesus as my saviour (see pages “The Start”) most of the fear left. Not all fortunately as I believe a certain amount of fear or apprehension is good as it warns you to be careful.

I now had someone who cared and would look after me through all the situations I got myself into. I am happy to say I have been able to see His hand on my life and His care for me shines through all the troubles and tribulations I get myself into.

If you feel scared out there, especially when starting, join the club.

I have been fortunate in that I have been part of a few miracles which I hope to share with you on this page and I hope you will share yours with us.

It is a mighty God we serve.

Kickstart!

Dear Wolfi and Barbara,

Hello. We do hope that you are well. Thanks for your communications over the past week. All is well here. Just pushing along the boat. We are working on the front beam and steering system at the moment.

This week we have a short inspiration with plenty of challenge. Often in the daily grind of things and dealing with difficult people and situations it is natural for us to accumulate habits and attitudes that are not in line with the loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, positive fruits of the Spirit of God. We wish you a wonderful week.

Lots of love to you

Andrew and Hanna

Create a Bridge Between Your Spirituality and Your Work - From Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff at Work, by Marc Carlson

To create a bridge between your spirituality and your work means that you take the essence of who you are and what you believe into your daily work life. It means that if kindness, patience, honesty and generosity are spiritual qualities that you believe in, you make every effort to practice those qualities at work.

You treat people with kindness and respect. If someone is late or makes a mistake, you try to be patient. Even if it’s your job to reprimand someone, you do so from a place of love and respect. You are as generous as you can be—with your time, money, ideas and love.

Work is a perfect environment to practice your spirituality. In any given day, you have so many opportunities to practice patience, acts of kindness, and forgiveness. You have time to think loving thoughts, smile, embrace others, and practice gratitude. You can practice being a better listener. You can try to be compassionate, especially with difficult or abrasive people. You can practice your spirituality in virtually everything you do.
